On a global scale, tectonic forces rearrange continental plates creating features such as towering mountains and deep rift valleys. When viewing strata more closely the effects of tectonism may be seen as cracks and fractures in the rocks. Tectonic stresses also force mineral laden fluids to travel through these fractures forming veins. Designs in this hand-dyed fabric are evocative of that process.
